1980 (in 1950)

1980; quite a year for me. high school graduation, 7 weeks singing in europe, meeting betty. and lots of other crazy firsts and personal discoveries.

i remember seeing 'the empire strikes back' in a theater in oregon. It was on my last HS band trip, so we had good friends all packed in together which made it more exciting. Portland was covered in ash from the Mt. St. Helens eruption (we were there for the Portland Rose Festival).

here's the empire strikes back (1950)!

crabapple birds

the crabapple tree is a great place for birdwatching! just now i saw three male lazuli buntings. hummingbirds like the blossoms and chase off the seed eaters now and again. chickadee, finch, bluebird, robin, sparrow, magpie... i don't know all the names, but yellow, red, blue, grey, black, white little cuties consume a full feeder of seed a day, even in rain.

watching the birds here makes me miss my old minolta. i wish i had a good zoom on a camera.

Piriformis Syndrome

I think I have Piriformis Syndrome now. My on-going struggle with leg/back pain is interesting. Switching from left to right leg, sometimes numb from hip to foot, pelvic pain, it's crazy, and has been going on for months. Now though my left leg seems really good, and the worst pain yet - excruciating - is in my right butt shooting down to my knee.

I've been doing some research and decided to try some self-therapy. There are tons of videos out there on piriformis stretching etc., this one seems good to me (no neck involvement, stretches both sides, includes self-massage and ends with ice). I've only done the regimen described here once, but i feel relief already. Will try this 2-3 times a day and see how it goes.

bavarian creme

getting into the swing of things back here on the home-front. making berry pie for the guys left behind (and since betty calls WDW the 'holy land', it gives "left behind" even deeper meaning). stopped at Lee's for some groceries. didn't buy the bavarian cremes, but took a picture. mr. sha always encourages me to get two for myself, but i like to save that indulgence for the after-school stop with him. they are delicious, and often still warm!

Colorful Myōbokuzan

Shippuden #159. Doom music throughout. People dying, Konoha in rubble. Kaka-sensei, dead? we shall see...

Mount Myoboku is a trippy kind of place:

Tsunade-sama is using all her chakra to heal people. Poor Tsunade, she won't have much longer as Hokage.

izumi

another tough girl in Brotherhood, Izumi Curtis.
she seems to have gotten even tougher since hohenheim healed her.
i don't recall, though, why it is she's running around in bathroom shoes.
lost hers? in a hurry?
it's a funny detail anyway, love that about this series.

Uptown on Tyler

Farmers Market Opening Day!

It was raining and dark this morning, so we didn't know what to expect, but it was a full on market with lots of people, stuff to buy and great music.

So many great things at this market. A Salmon Stall!

Here's a few more pictures (doggie, spinning wheel, delicious greens)
