Summer Splendour is completed!
This pattern was quite easy, the result satisfying. Blocking is magic. I'm giving this to a colleague at work, and beginning another right away in ecru for my mom. Definitely feel close to my mom and grandma doing thread crochet. I was never interested in doilies, except I disdained them when dusting the house as a kid. I remember them sitting together with their magazines, they had the language barrier and the patterns were in different styles (English text based vs. Japanese chart), but they were so good they just looked at their work in progress to figure it out. I realize now what that connection meant to them, having now this feeling of addiction to it, hands cramped up but must finish a row...

Ravelry
Do you have a Ravelry account? It's a nice way to get ideas and track projects, here's my link: stucmont.
I was browsing the groups and found this one, love their byline.
My Knitting Has Cat Hair In It
Have a cat? Knit? Then your knitting will have cat hair in it.

So many other groups, cool people. Lots of geeks, nerds, specialty interests, many projects. Game Over Crochet!
I set aside the vintage pineapple, that pattern is a bit too much for me just yet. Switched to "summer splendor", and here it is through row 19.

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines
Rather too late I discovered the incredible crepe myrtle trees down here. Gorgeous, but fading now. Many blossoms got stripped off in the recent severe thunderstorm, but here are a few shots I collected awhile ago.
Last night I went to a concert by the 246th Army National Guard Band. There was a brief set of Dixieland pieces from a smaller section, then the full band with mostly jazz standards, some patriotic, popular and military pieces. I managed to sit through the heavier religious-patriotic points without too much discomfort, it was a nice evening. Love hearing all those saxophones play jazz.
