Progress on my first try at doily crochet. Need to work on controlling my tension, maybe the stitches will even out on blocking. This pattern is difficult in places, looking at ravelry user's pictures helps, so I can just go by the visual. Vintage Crochet Pineapple Doily at ravelry. This is through round 10, now each pineapple gets finished separately. Channeling my mom and grandma...

something good
I finally stopped at Green Acres Country Market, it's right on my way home from work if I go the I-95 way. Very good stuff!
Peaches, tomatoes and corn. The corn was excruciatingly good, best I've had in as long as I can remember.
Blackberries from McLeod's, with local honey and yogurt.

downtown
This area looks like what is left of an old downtown. There seems to be some revitalizing going on too.
The old Kimbrell's (furniture) building is the home of a pretty cool art space called Art Trail Gallery.
There was a bluegrass band called Blue Ridge Junction playing for free inside, nice. I love the inside of the building.
Finished the day having dinner at Thai House & Sushi Bar. I ordered papaya salad and pad kee mao (hot), pretty tasty and it had me sweating with the spiciness. When was the last time I had Thai food? I can't remember.

Taqueria la Villa
Lunch at the bus in Logan. Delicious. I had a #3 plate, two carne asada tacos with rice and beans, $5.

Mac's Pride
Went to McLeod Farms today, north of Hartsville. Bought some fresh corn, blackberries and local honey. Had a peach enchilada with ice cream. Delicious.
Missing Home
Sunday morning at the old Residence Inn, laundry's done, called Japan, had breakfast. I want to be back home, sad I'm missing out on the summer sci-fi/anime marathons with the guys.
I do watch Shippuden every weekend, via FaceTime which is pretty cool.
J&L always re-watch the B5 series, which got me thinking and wandering the web. Here are some favorite shots from the series, via Do Not Thump the Book of G'quan and the League of Non-Aligned Blogs.
And here's Candy Wife from The Misadventures of Flapjack, just because... Maybe someday we'll figure out what her head is made of. I imagine it like marzipan.

Charleston Sunday
Here are a few pictures from today in Charleston...
The picture below was taken by the woman standing next to us waiting to go on the harbour tour, who coincidentally now works at my most recent former employer in Santa Clara, small world. Here I am with fellow contractors from work...

Flea Market
Florence Flea Market
This place is really big, there is so much stuff here. Hit the link above, there's an aerial view, you could wander for a long time, or until heat stroke set in. Not really anything I'm interested in really; lots of stuff looked like overstock, "discount groceries", cheap clothing, shoes, hats, t-shirts. A few homemade items like jewelry, baked goods. There was a crazy looking bong attached to a full-face gas mask. I saw more Asian people here than anywhere else in town. Several Hispanic produce stands, looked good. Ammo dealers, many, many knives.
I miss the Maku'u Farmer's Market....
